Head coach Dave Scott-Thomas on leave of absence.
Dave Scott-Thomas, head coach of the University of Guelph’s track and field team, is on a leave of absence. The University of Guelph has received information from past and current athletes about their experiences on the team.
Lori Bona Hunt, Director of Integrated Communications, issued a statement, saying:
“Dave Scott-Thomas, the head coach of the University of Guelph’s track and field program, is currently on a personal leave of absence. Recently, the University received information from past and current track and field athletes regarding their experiences on the team. We are actively and responsibly reviewing the information received in accordance with University processes and procedures. In accordance with the University’s policies and relevant privacy legislation, the University does not comment on such matters while those processes are underway.”
Scott-Thomas was also coach and founder of the Speed River Track and Field club, but on Friday, as reported by Guelph Today, the club announced he would be taking a leave as head coach. The club stated that it is not reviewing Scott-Thomas in any way and that his leave is health-related.
